Christian Union JCU
The client is a student group at James Cook University. They needed a logo to use on identity materials such as T-shirts, banners, business cards and a website.
I aimed to produce a logo for them that avoided cliched symbolism.
The logo incorporates top-down view of fish, and and forms a larger shape of a head of wheat, both of which are also symbolic in Christianity, although less cliched in their use. ‘JCU’ was also incorporated to identify it with the university, as other universities also have similar student groups by the same name.
A sans-serif font was chosen for its boldness, and an oblique style used to give the logo more dynamism.
Reversal and monochrome forms were also designed.
The student organisation has since changed their logo to adopt a nationwide logo instead of individual logos for each campus group.
